Bishop Joseph Hughes Biography

Serves as Senior Pastor and Overseer of Highway Deliverance Church International (HDCI) in Washington, DC. He is a great man of faith who operates in the prophetic ministry. He leads a multi-faceted and talented congregation in the inner city. He is a native of Leesburg, Virginia. He later relocated to Washington, DC where he met his lovely and long time friend and companion Annie Hughes. 

He enrolled and studied from 1985-1989 at Washington Saturday College, Howard University, Washington, DC and Jericho Christian College, Landover, MD taking ministry courses and obtaining a degree. He is a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. He also attended Wilbur Henry Waters, Inc. School of Religion, and received a Doctor of Humanity Degree.

Bishop Hughes along with his wife joined Highway Deliverance Church under the late founder and Overseer, Bishop Robert J. Williams in 1978. He remained a faithful and dedicated member moving up in the ministry as an ordained Deacon, Minister, Elder and Assistant Pastor and finally Head Clergy of the organization. He began to see his vision and purpose more clearly upon his life for the ministry according to Deuteronomy 28:1-14. His ministry launched out to another level upon retirement from the private industry. Bishop’s main vision is to move the ministry to the next level in Christ and see many lost souls won for the kingdom, prosper and be successful soldiers for Christ.

Bishop a man of faith, integrity, and teacher of prosperity for the spiritual and natural man have seen many who have lost their hope on life, caught up in gangs, substance abuse, broken homes, homeless, despair and despondent. God anointed him to pull many broken men, women and children off the streets nobody cared for and bring them into greatness in the kingdom of God.
